Washington Do-Not-Call List
State DNC registry requirements for Washington
Washington does not maintain a separate state DNC list. Scrubbing the federal National DNC Registry at donotcall.gov is sufficient for state compliance.
National Do Not Call Registry (Washington uses federal list)
Covers
Washington does NOT maintain a separate state Do Not Call list — the federal NDNC is the only list. Washington DOES require telemarketer registration and licensing through the Department of Licensing before conducting business (no advance timeframe, just before commencing). A bond or letter of credit is required. Washington's Commercial Telephone Solicitation Act (RCW 19.158) governs telemarketing practices. Telemarketers must provide their registration number upon request and inform purchasers of cancellation rights. Repeated violations: consumers can seek injunction and/or damages (minimum $1,000 per violation plus attorney fees). Telemarketers' rights are also overseen by the Utilities and Transportation Commission (UTC).
Federal National DNC Registry (Always Required)
You must scrub the federal list regardless of whether Washington has its own list. There is no opt-out from federal DNC compliance.
