Overview
Michigan regulates telemarketing through the Michigan Telemarketing Act (M.C.L. § 484.125) and Telephonic Solicitation Statute. The state is STRICTER than federal on calling hours — 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM (vs. federal 8 AM). Michigan limits calls to the same person on the same subject to 3 per year. Holiday calling is prohibited. The state maintains its own DNC list. Michigan provides a private right of action under the Consumer Protection Act (M.C.L. § 445.901) for deceptive telemarketing practices. Registration with LARA is required with a $10,000 surety bond.
